A little bit of our history...

Gymnastics in the Vernon area began in 1978, with programs offered by the Boys and Girls Club. On May 10, 1993, the North Valley Gymnastics Society (a non-profit society) was founded and took over the programs offered by the Boys and Girls Club. Kathy Stevens, a National (Level 3) coach and judge, was the Society’s first coach and a founding member of NVGS, and is still the NVGS Head Coach today. For thirty years, gymnastics programs have been offered to those between the ages of 3 and 17 in the Vernon area.

For twelve years (1992-2004), programs were based at the Beairsto Elementary School, and club membership peaked at 225 gymnasts per session. Reduced gymnasium availability reduced programs, and the NVGS was without a permanent facility, moving between available spaces, the most recent of which were the Vernon Recreation Centre and Armstrong Elementary School. In the Spring of 2012, NVGS moved to its current location. During the Winter 2013 session, over 300 gymnasts registered for classes.
